Meet Corrine Day, Kate Moss photographer. Unfortunately, Day passed away at her home in Dunham, England after suffering from a cancerous brain tumor. Day is a self-taught photographer who is known for her extraordinary work in capturing beauty via the lens. She is memorable for her intimate and candid portraits that she has taken with her close clients, one specifically being the fabulous and ever-stylish Kate Moss.

Day was born in the year 1965 in a town called Ickenham (London). Her childhood was rather interesting with a mother who operated a brothel and a father who was a thief. She was raised primarily by her grandmother and sought out photography as her escape. Upon leaving school at the age of 16, Day took up such jobs as airline courier and a bank trainee. But it was when she met a photographer on a plane who thought she would make a fabulous model and landed her a job for Guess Jeans.

She later met Mark Szaszy a filmmaker and married him. He taught her how to use a camera and the rest is history.

Day was one of the few photographers who refused to airbrush model’s flaws. About her craft Day said, “Photography is getting as close as you can to real life showing us things we don’t normally see. These are people’s most intimate moments, and sometimes intimacy is sad.”

Despite her attention to keen detail and leaving photos untouched, Corrine received a lot of flack particularly for a British Vogue fashion shoot that she conducted in her own home. The photos of Moss stirred much attention as Kate was photographed wearing mismatched panties and looked anorexic and drugged out.

One of Day’s most memorable photo shoots was one that she photographed Moss for. The Face magazine cover is said to be the one cover that launched Moss’ modeling career. See the photos at http://iamfashion.blogspot.com/2006/04/15-by-corrine-day-featuring-kate-moss.html.

Our thoughts go out to Corrine Day, Kate Moss’ photographer, family and friends.
