British actress Archie Panjabi won an Emmy Sunday for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role as Kalinda Sharma on the CBS drama, The Good Wife. You can see photos of her Emmy win as well as a behind the scenes video of her in The Good Wife below.

Congratulations to Archie Panjabi for her Best Supporting Actress in a Drama win as Kalinda on The Good Wife. She looked absolutely stunning in her Tadashi Shoji dress, didn’t she? Wowzers!

Who did she beat out? The nominees in her category included Good Wife co-star Christine Baranski, Sharon Gless (Burn Notice), Rose Byrne (Damages) and Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).

Of her Emmy win, she said:

“When I started in the business in England, just getting a job was a dream. And to receive an Emmy now is just beyond my wildest dreams.”

As a biography, here is what we know about Archie Panjabi. She was born Archana Panjabi in London, England in May of 1972, which makes her 38 years of age. Even though she was born in London, she did live in Mumbai for a short period of time when she was a youngster. After high school, she would attend and graduate from Brunel University in London.

She made her first appearance on the silver screen in the 1999 flick ‘East is East’. She would later appear in films such as ‘Bend it Like Beckham’, ‘The Constant Gardner’ and ‘A Mighty Heart’, with none other than Angelina Jolie. In fact, she even mentioned Ang in her acceptance speech, and later told reporters that Jolie was “an inspiration”.

According to her website (archiepanjabi.com) her part in the movie Yasmin garnered her awards for Best Actress at the Reims Festival and a Shooting Star Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Panjabi has appeared in several TV shows, but ‘The Good Wife’ would be her first American venture. And while she may have been a bit unheard of here in the States before her ‘Good Wife’ role, that has certainly now changed. Just like she said at the end of her Emmy acceptance speech, “This is just amazing for my career. Thank you so much.” Indeed!

Again, congratulations to British actress Archie Panjabi on her Emmy win. What do you think folks? Was this an upset or well deserved? Leave your comments plus check out more pictures plus video below.
