Angelina Jolie Eyes Bosnia Love Drama (Photos)

Angelina Jolie will once again snuggle into the director’s chair, this time for an upcoming drama about a woman from Bosnia who falls for a Serbian soldier. Get the scoop here, and see photos and video below.

It seems that Angie refuses to let her humanitarian efforts simmer on the back burner. Even in the wake of a relatively successful action flick like Salt, we’re catching wind of another trademark Angelina project.

This time, though, she won’t be jump-kicking her way to righteousness. Instead, she has her eye on a much more challenging endeavor; trying to bring together the two sides of one of the deadliest conflicts in modern history. It would be naive to think that a movie could accomplish such an epic goal, but it will be refreshing to see a story told from that perspective.

According to The Baltimore Sun, the film will feature many actors and actresses from Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Sun also reports that while Jolie was in Sarajevo the UN High Commissioner for Refugees leaked news of the directing gig. I’m guessing that Angelina Jolie saw a glimmer of beauty within the aftermath of the region’s longtime struggles, and decided to join the project. She insists the film is not a play on politics:

“The film is a love story, not a political statement… I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can.”

While in the country, the actress spent a great deal of time focusing on the needs of refugees. Part of her effort was to support education for those who have been displaced by war. She also managed to scout out locations for the film, which will be set in mid-nineties Bosnia.

Blah, blah, blah. I want Jolie to go back to the crazy psych ward flicks when she actually was a good actress.

Sadly, I agree. Go back to waving guns around for god’s sake. We love the ‘save the children’ stuff, but American’s really want explosions and fast cars..
