Saturday Night Live alum Martin Short’s wife, Nancy Dolman, passed away unexpectedly as reported by Radar Online. Her cause of death is unknown at this time, and there are no other details surrounding her death that have been released.
Nancy and Martin had been married for 30 years, an eternity by Hollywood standards. For his wife to pass suddenly like this undoubtedly has to be a shock for Short and their three children. According to the New York Daily News, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. Was her death related to her cancer diagnosis? It is unknown at this time, but If any new information becomes available, we will certainly update this post.
As a biography, here is what we know about Nancy Dolman. As mentioned above she was 58 years of age at the time of her death. She was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, with Philosophy as her major. During the 70’s, she worked on stage in Jesus Christ Superstar through the Canadian Rock Theater.
How did she and Martin Short meet? It was when she became Gilda Radner’s understudy in Godspell in Toronto circa 1972. Radner and Short were dating at the time. Nancy and Martin would not become romantically involved until two years later.
In 1980 she and Martin were wed and together they had three children. Katherine is 26 years old, Oliver is 24 and their youngest, Henry, is 20.
She was later cast in one of my favorite sitcoms, “Soap” (who can ever forget the Campbells and the Tates?), having appeared in 10 episodes as Annie Selig in 1980. After her children were born, she took a break from the world of entertainment to focus on her kids and family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Nancy Dolman, Martin Short’s wife, during this difficult time. Pictures are below, plus see a video of her with Martin, back in 1984 on SCTV.
