She went to ‘Phantom of the Opera’ with her family and wanted to start singing opera at age 8. The first 11 contestants were chosen by the judges, but this singer was voted in by the fans. And out of all of the talented people, I have to say she delivered the best!

Jackie was phenomenal. Like the judges comments, I’ve never heard anything like it. I pray she will be voted the best & be a huge success. She deserves it all.

Jackie is an incredibly gifted girl. But her style is not opera, it’s classical crossover.

For some reason today people are so ignorant of opera and classical music that anybody who sounds remotely “operatic” or sings an aria INTO A MICROPHONE is labeled opera singer.

Newsflash: An opera singer is someone who sings in live operas in opera theaters WITHOUT MICROPHONES. No little child is capable of such a feat, it takes a lot of work to learn it. Not to mention musicianship, languages and artistry required to sing in full operas. Sure, opera singers may use microphones when singing in outdoor arenas, but this doesn’t change the fact that their main job is opera.

    1. Phantom of the Opera is a MUSICAL, not an opera. It’s performed on Broadway by musical theater actors with microphones. Operas are performed in opera theaters, by opera singers and WITHOUT MICROPHONES. The style of singing is very different.
    2. Again, “sing opera” means singing IN OPERA.

Always someone throwing water on the dreams of another. There are those that “DO” and those that talk about it. Hey Lisa – tell us all again – what do you do for a living?

Didn’t your Mother ever tell you “if you can’t say anything nice – don’t say anything at all”?

Here’s an idea – Just SHUT-UP and enjoy… How many 10 year olds do you know that have this talent. You can’t tell me that wasn’t music from heaven. Last bu not least — most if not all singers are equipped with radio microphones mixed to a series of unsightly loudspeakers scattered throughout the theatre.” Instead, most opera houses use the sound reinforcement system for acoustic enhancement, and for subtle boosting of offstage voices, child singers, onstage dialogue, and sound effects. So there !!!!!

Jackie is incredibly talented, that’s for sure.
Moreover, she obviously loves singing and must have worked very hard.
She also sounds very mature in her attitude and responses on stage.
However, there was something troubling in the way she was praised to the skies. She is only ten, and I am afraid all that fame might go to her head if they carry on telling her what a genius she is!
It’s obvious that she must carry on on the path she has started, but one big concern of her parents and of the people who look after her, must also be to teach her to be modest and grateful for the talent she was gifted with!
