Dmitry Kazachuk Dies During Exorcism (Video)

July 15, 2010

Dmitry Kazachuk, 4, dies during an exorcism in Russia. Now the world wants answers as the outrage spreads West. Get the story here, and see photos and video below.

Pneumonia…evil spirits…what’s the difference? Apparently that was the mentality that the boy’s parents had when they asked a Shaman to perform a ritual on their ailing 4-year-old son.

Reports state that the boy’s parents believed his deteriorating health was the result of evil spirits that had taken over his body. They apparently commissioned So Dyavor and her husband Kim Sende to perform an exorcism.

Believe it or not, their original intent was to seek help for their sick grandmother. A small army of the boy’s family and relatives arrived in Sergeyevka, Russia to see it through. Upon arriving, So Dyavor informed them that it was actually their young son who had ‘jinxed’ the family—calling him “Lucifer the demon.”

Dmitry Kazachuk’s parents then left him alone with the Shaman couple. Not long after, the boy suffered death by asphyxiation. Forensic professionals analyzed the boy’s body for traces of violence, but weren’t able to locate any. As a result, local authorities aren’t ruling out the boy’s pneumonia as the overall cause.

Regardless, a criminal probe has now begun, which could find the parents and/or the Shaman guilty of negligent homicide.

This kind of thing is pretty terrifying, but before you turn purple with anger, remember that exorcisms are actually still considered a valid rite in many orthodox branches of Christianity—primarily Catholicism—which means that there are folks here in the US who believe in this stuff.

I know, I know, these people weren’t Christians, and there is probably a huge difference between the ritual that was performed by these people in Russia and the rarely used procedure we see in the movies, but it’s definitely food for thought.

Hopefully there will be justice for Dmitry Kazachuk. Check out some related photos and video below. Your thoughts?
