Shrek breaks the record..

May 20, 2007

The third Shrek movie has made $120 Million in its first weekend on release in the US and Canada – a new box office record for an animated movie. Shrek the Third has surpassed the $108 M taken by Shrek 2 in 2004. It has also knocked Spider-Man 3 off the top of the current North American box office chart. But it could not match Spider-Man 3’s overall first-weekend record, which the super-hero set with takings of $148 M two weeks ago.

I personally have seen them all ( I got kids and an excuse ) and can’t wait to see Shrek 3

When Shrek married Princess Fiona, he never wanted to be king. He’s always been happy living in a swamp. However, when King Harold becomes ill, Shrek is now the next in line to run the kingdom of Far Far Away. But no matter how hard he tries, he’s just not cut out for being king, so he must find another who can take his place. Fiona’s cousin Arthur is the next in line after Shrek, but he’s not exactly king material either.

He’s just a loser in high school and nobody likes him – even the nerds at the school pick on him! It’s up to Shrek to bring him back to Far Far Away (by force of necessary) and convince him to be king, so that Shrek can go back to his swamp and live in peace. As usual, he teams up with Donkey and Puss in Boots and together they set off on this journey. Complicating matters even more, Fiona is pregnant and Shrek is fearful about becoming a father. Plus, his old nemesis Price Charming decides to rally all the fairytale villains and take over the kingdom of Far Far Away while Shrek is gone so that he can become king, leaving only Fiona and her band of fairytale princesses to try and stop him…
