As The World Turns actress Maura West is now a two time Emmy Award winner! I have to tell you Maura is so talented and is one of my favorite soap stars of all time. You can hear all about her second Daytime Emmy win, plus learn all about Maura too. There are also some great pictures and a video of West showing off her acting chops, so keep reading.

Maura West

Actress Maura West of As The World Turns fame, she plays Carly Tenney Snyder, won her second Daytime Emmy Award last night and she accepted it by bringing her oldest daughter Katherine on stage with her to accept the award. The adorable little girl was literally bawling her eyes for her mother. It was a heartwarming emotional moment for both mother and daughter that ended with the two of them doing a little curtsy, so freaking cute I tell you.

The Massachusetts born and raised West attended Boston University where she earned a degree in Fine Arts while honing her acting skills. In fact she was discovered when the ATWT casting director saw her in a production at Bsoton University. She has played Carly, the woman who can’t seem to stay out of trouble, since 1995. Along with her long running soap opera career Maura has also spent some time doing stage work having been in productions like Much Ado About Nothing, Top Girls and Hamlet.

West was actually born Maura Jo Snyder but at age 17 changed her name to West, which is her mothers maiden name. She has two brothers and one sister, she is the youngest. Maura was married to director Johnathon Kight for five years, the couple has one son Benjamin. In 2000 she married her ATWT costar Scott DeFreitas, they have four children Joseph, Katherine, Basil and Birdie. The birth of her second son Joseph was featured on TLC’s A Baby Story in 2000. West will get plenty of time with her family come September when the show she has called home for over 13 years goes dark.

Maura West is an actress on As The World Turns. She is beautiful, talented, and an amazing person to watch on screen.
