Meet Morrow Wilson, Rue McClanahan’s husband. Wilson was born in 1940 in New York City, surrounded by a family very active and talented in the arts. It was inevitable that he would become as successful as he has in his field as a writer. But it was his well-rounded educational experience as a student at Putney School in Vermont and then on to Columbia which really gave him the confidence and drive for success.
About his education at Columbia, Morrow says, “I had the benefit of the most marvelous English literature, American literature and humanities education that anyone could have. But more than anything else, Columbia was the right place for me to be and it was New York City — the center of American culture.”
Morrow is currently active in the Screen Actors Guild, Actors’ Equity Association and other notable groups supporting his craft.
It was in 1997 that Morrow met Rue while she was working in a play in NYC. The play was being produced by one of his good friends and innocent flirting began when he offered to help her with her lines. Their relationship became saucy when Rue found a lump under her arm which turned out to be breast cancer. After a month of knowing each other, Morrow declared his love for her with a proposal on June 10th. Their wedding took place on Christmas day at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC.
Our hearts go out to Morrow Wilson during this difficult time.
