May 12, 2010

Well it was yet another unfortunate night for contestant Michael Lynche as he was the next American Idol voted off on tonight’s result show. Find out more details and see photos and his final performance in a video right here.

Michael Lynche

Yes, Big Mike apparently just wasn’t hungry enough, or did America just get this all wrong? I don’t know, you be the judge! Be sure to check out pictures and videos below.

As a biography, Michael Lynche “Big Mike” is most-known for is appearance on Season Nine’s American Idol. He grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida and is 26 years old. Lynche has been singing since junior high. He currently works as a personal trainer in Astoria, New York. He auditioned in Orlando before making the Top 24 and finishing fourth in the competition.

Well, yet another elimination, and then there were three. Host of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest, certainly knows how to leave us all hanging, possibly without anymore nails to bite. After performance night last night, the stakes were high with the top four: Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze, Casey James, and Micheal Lynche himself. It was a movie-themed evening with the mentoring of superstar Jamie Foxx. According to the judges, three out of the four performances were clearly just not the right song choice. Big Mike took on Michael Jackson’s song “Will You Be There” from the film, “Free Willy” and received little praise by his performance.

The results of Big Mike’s elimination, really comes as no surprise. Afterall, he was once saved with the chance to regain his confidence and consistency to make the best out of each performance. Rightfully so, he did just that. Seacrest now had the contestants narrowed down to three, eventually sending Lee DeWyze to safety to join Casey James. So now it was down to two. Bowersox and Big Mike. Crystal actually looked a bit nervous but relieved to find out she, was in fact, joining the top three as well, and for Lynche, it was a bittersweet goodbye. Of his exit, he said, “It’s been unbelievable, man,” adding, “I just sit here right now and I think, ‘I wasn’t even supposed to be here.’ Thank God for the judges saving me, I got to spend more time here, and be with the people, perform for my wife, you know? It’s all good, man.”

As a musical treat, Jon Bon Jovi performed their rendition of “Superman Tonight” from their 11th album to date called, “The Circle”. On behalf of the band and their success, Jon says, “We’re humbled. We’ve crossed generations at this point,” adding, “It’s really great. The sky’s the limit. The harder we work, the luckier we get — that’s pretty much the way it is.” Amen, who doesn’t like Jon Bon Jovi, they’re legendary, rock on!

Also, former American Idol contestants Fantasia sang a song called, “Bittersweet” and Chris Daughtry performed “September”.

Well that’s a wrap for tonight’s results show. Stay tuned for next week as the contestants compete to make it to the finale. They will be returning to each of their hometown’s homecoming celebration, a parade you will not want to miss!
