Meet Diandra Douglas, also known as Diandra Luker and Cameron Douglas’ mother. Diandra married actor Michael Douglas on March 20th, 1977. Together they had one son on December 13, 1978.
After being married to Douglas for 23 years, Diandra and Michael divorced.
Yesterday, April 20th, 2010 Cameron Douglas, the son of Diandra and Michael, appeared in court to hear his fate on drug related charges. Not only was his famous father in attendance, but so was his mother. In hope that they could get a lesser sentence for their son and family member, Diandra, Michael and other members of the family wrote letters to the judge to try to persuade the verdict.
In Diandra’s letter that she wrote to Federal Judge Richard Berman she said that she has “not always been a perfect mother”. In addition she added, “I can only say I did the very best I could at the time with the tools I had available to me as a young mother.”
Cameron’s famous father Michael Douglas wrote a five-page letter that read, “For the past eight months, I have cherished my two hr. a week in person conversation with Cameron at the MCC [Metropolitan Correctional Center]. He’s sober! I get to witness the wonderful young man he can be. He maintains his spirit, blames no one but himself, and recognizes his criminal activity began with his heroin use.”
Unfortunately, the letters were not enough to get Cameron out of a prison sentence. So, what did Cameron get?
