Sacha Baron Cohen is banned from the Oscars! Yes my friends you read it correctly the Borat star has been axed from Hollywood’s biggest night and I have all the dirt on what went down. Plus I have some fantastic pictures of Cohen and a hysterical video.
According to BBC News Sacha Baron Cohen is banned from the Oscars because the shows producers were afraid James Cameron would be so offended by a skit that Cohen was doing with Ben Stiller that he might actually leave the live telecast. That certainly wouldn’t be good for the show right.
So what is this skit, allegedly Cohen is dressed as one of the blue women characters from Avatar. Then at one point during the skit Cohen yells he is pregnant with James Cameron’s baby and confronts the director, mind you he is still in the Avatar character. I am sure it would have been much funnier than I described. The producers had some concerns about how offensive it would be to Cameron, etc. Sacha’s rep said it came down to creative differences and that both parties agreed it would be better for Sacha to stay in London.
Now I usually think that the creative differences excuse is usually a crap answer, however in this case it seems like it could be true. It is no secret that the Ali G star is a controversial actor to say the least, so I get the feeling that there was definitely some crossing the line moments in his skit. However he is always entertaining and I for one am disappointed that we won’t get to see the skit. Not only that but since he now isn’t even going to be a presenter he won’t be entertaining us viewers in anyway.
