Tony Kornheiser: ESPN Host a Sexist Chauvinist? (Video)

ESPN’s Tony Kornheiser has been suspended after ragging on his colleague Hannah Storm on the air. Find out what he said below.

Hannah Storm

The uber-inflammatory comments were made on a local radio show he runs in the DC area. On the show, he couldn’t resist engaging in some typical male-dominated-society talk, including passing judgment about her choice of clothing, and style of dress.

It’s worth mentioning that even in the cheap suits he wears on Pardon The Interruption, he still looks like a train jumping hobo. I mean really, Tony, shave your whole head already. Combing over the seven hairs you have left on top isn’t helping.

Here’s what Tony Kornheiser had to say about a particular outfit that Hannah Storm wore on SportsCenter last week:

“Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She’s got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing? … She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”

Wow, he even worked in a JD Salinger reference, just weeks after his death. What a learned man!

Either way, it’s safe to say that for this guy to make disparaging comments about the way someone looks is a major irony overdose. Throw in a little sexism and you’ve got a pretty healthy scandal.

In response, ESPN has suspended him for two weeks while they look into the matter. Meanwhile, he has managed to apologize directly to Hannah for his actions. So for now we’ll let him off the hook. Besides, if things don’t work out for him, he could probably make a living as a real-life look-a-like of Willy from the Simpsons.

I feel better now. What are your thoughts about Tony Kornheiser’s comments?
