Here is Carrie Underwood singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl game between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. See the video and tell us what you think of her Super Bowl performance in the comments.
One thinks it is impossible for a Carrie Underwood Super Bowl performance to get a bad rating. She was on her game as usual, dressed to the hilt in white, and shining like a beacon on the American hill. One of the country’s most beloved contemporary singers got the Super Bowl off to a good start although we have heard more than one homer claim she is dressed like a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
This is probably one Carrie Underwood song for which lyrics will not be necessary, but we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Right Celebrity *always* tries to give the lyrics for our song videos, so let’s sheepishly hope there is someone out there wondering what the heck Carrie Underwood’s strange words were. If you are that person here is your answer:
“Oh oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!?”
By the way this is not the first Carrie Underwood Super Bowl performance. She also sang the national anthem in 2006 in a white outfit remarkable the same as what she wore in 2010. We believe in recycling clothes in a recession and are glad to see Carrie making a statement for the working people of America.

She was screaming, breathing way too often, and many off notes, ESPECIALLY the LAST note, which was off by almost half a tone. Who are the tone deaf idiots who gave her rave reviews?

I watched Carrie Underwood sing the SSB last night at the Super Bowl. She is a great performer, but her SSB was mediocre, at best, when compared to the Cactus Cuties version. I guess being a 5 time Grammy-award-winner out ranks, “being able to sing the song great”. Maybe next year the Cuties can do it right in Super Bowl XLV.

I think she tried to hard. It seemed very forced. She can do so much better than that. The National Anthem does not need screamed in order to be respected
