Katy Perry permanent Idol judge? That is the rumor. Katy Perry was a guest Idol judge last week, and now rumor has it that the songstress would give up her music career to work on the show. Read more here and watch the video of her guest spot!

Katy Perry was a guest judge on American Idol last week and I have to admit she did a pretty good job. She was perfectly sarcastic, and even had a little drama with regular Idol judge, Kara.

Kara played the original Paula role, and became very sympathetic by the story of Chris Golightly, who grew up in foster care. Katy wasn’t having a pity party and told Kara,

“This is not a Lifetime movie, sweetheart.”

Yikes! I have to admit, I really thought that was cold of her. The personal story is important – it allows the viewers to get to know the artist, and get a feeling of where the emotion comes from when they sing. Katy should know that, the only reason she is famous is because she had a hit song about kissing girls. Please. Girlfriend didn’t break through with her 2001 gospel album now did she? Or even her second attempt, “Ur So Gay”. I’m just sayin’!

Anyway despite the drama, Katy told MTV that she had a fantastic time:

“The American Idol experience was awesome. If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career. It’s kind of like judging a talent show. American Idol was great fun. It was so easy. I didn’t really make anybody cry, but I did tell the truth to some kids that might have needed to hear it.”

So readers what do you think? Would Katy Perry make a good American Idol judge? As of now, I am leaning more towards Neil Patrick Harris. He was hilarious! Leave me your thoughts in the comment section below after checking out pictures and video.

So, if she becomes permanent, I will NOT watch idol again. She’s a wannabe Simon and there’s only one natural one. She acts like a teeny bopper, not a harsh critique.

Well — really I’m gonna stop watching when Simon leaves anyway but this will give me more the reason.

NOOOOO way should she be a regular. Who’s SHE to judge anyone?? She has one hit … period .. and only because it was a catchy tune! She’s too full of herself and was wayyy to comfortable in that chair … thinking she was THE number one judge! NOT … my vote is a billion percent NO! But thanks dawg!

I thought Katy did okay, I found her entertaining. I think the real issue is Kara. I find her irritating, she over enunciates her words and sounds so over dramatic with her evaluations. Just use a normal voice and keep it simple i.e., (yes you have it and I like you, or no sorry you’re not ready). We have Simon to give us the rude comments, she just needs to be herself.

I thought Katy was rude and down right mean. I found her to be very annoying. Kara is bad enough. Katy would be too much for me. Besides, just looking at her with those big goofy eyes is enough to make me want to change the channel.

Katy Perry was horrible. Avril Lavigne was even worse. Best guest judges have been Shania Twain and Neil Patrick Harris.

I think all of you who are dissing on Katy are absolutley full of crap! She is not famous just because of her one hit. She has various hits that are great and many people love. For example, I Kissed A Girl, Waking Up In Vegas, Hot n Cold, Thinking of You, Ur so Gay, One of the Boys, Mannequin, If You Can Afford Me, Fingerprints, pretty much her whole damn cd. Also, she did and amazing job as a guest judge on American Idol. She told her opinions and was harsh, which is what should be done because not just anyone can make it to Hollywood. If she was a permanent judge on the show I think it would be awesome. I love her and her music and I can’t wait for her second cd to come.
