As a biography, Pernell Elvin Roberts, Jr. was born in Waycross, Georgia on May 18, 1928 and died on January 24, 2010 so his age was 81. He is an actor. He is most-known for his role on “Bonanza” as Adam Cartwright and his role in “Trapper John, M.D.”. During his college years, he attended Georgia Tech and the University of Maryland. He was a member of the Marine Corp for a couple years. He also had a talent in singing. He sang in many “Bonanza” episodes and recorded and released a solo album “Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies”. Following a failed attempt in studies, he decided to pursue an acting career. The actor made various television appearances in: The Big Valley, Mission: Impossible, The Wild Wild West, Gunsmoke, Mannix, The Odd Couple, Hawaii Five-O, Hardy Boys, Young Riders, and Diagnosis Murder. He also could be seen in: Carousel and Rhett Butler, The Night Train to Kathmandu,TV appearances TV shows including The Big Valley, Mission: Impossible, The Wild Wild West, Gunsmoke, Mannix, The Odd Couple, Hawaii Five-O, and The Hardy Boys. He won a “Drama Desk” award for his 1955 performance in “Macbeth” and also earned a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for his performance in “Welcome Home” for “Best Guest Artist” in 1973. On January 4, 1951 he married his first wife, Dr. Vera Mowry and together, they had a son, Jonathan Christopher Roberts, born in October of 1951. They ended up getting a divorce. He married his second wife Judith Roberts on October 19, 1962 and divorced in 1971. His third wife he married Kara Knack on June 1, 1972 and later divorced in 1996. He is currently married to wife Eleanor Criswell.

According to reports, Robert’s wife, Eleanor Criswell, confirmed his death reporting that the “Bonanza” star died on Sunday in his Malibu home resulting from pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his fourth wife, who was reportedly by his side at the time of death. He joins his only son who died in 1989.

It is said that services for the actor’s funeral is scheduled for today.
