Survivor: Palau’s fourth place contestant, Jennifer Lyon, has fallen from her long, five year battle with breast cancer that eventually spread to her bones.

As a biography, Jenn Lyon was born on February 27, 1972. She died at the age of 37 in Nevada, however she was raised in Washington and Oregon. As a foreign exchange student she lived in Spain and worked as a nanny in London. She has attended Portland State University and Western Oregon State College. After transferring to Oregon State University she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and food management. She pushed forward to earn her master’s degree at California State University, Northridge for family consumer sciences. In Los Angeles, she continued to work as a nanny in the area and a photographer part-time. She considers herself to be good-natured, friendly, and opinionated. She has a love for the outdoors; hiking, soccer, and photography. In her past, she has also worked as a nutrition counselor, preschool teacher, and a photographer’s assistant. In 2005, she participated in CBS’ tenth season, Survivor: Palau.

Unfortunately, it is said that “Jenn died at home in Oregon at 11:19 p.m. on Jan. 19. She had been battling breast cancer for the last five plus years.”

Once diagnosed, “Survivor” contestant said that she “was completely shocked and overwhelmed,” sharing that she felt completely fine that day, adding that she has been healthy her whole life! Reportedly two months after the show, the contestant was already in Stage 3 breast cancer and immediately underwent treatment resulting in chemotherapy and a double mastectomy.

Austin Carty, a contestant for “Survivor: Panama” briefly dated Jenn three years ago, and told US magazine that “Jen was a genuinely selfless, sweet-natured person. She always had a smile. She cared about every person. This has really rocked the “Survivor” community.”

In addition, he mentioned that he saw her in New York last summer in support of a breast cancer charity event where she received much praise for a speech she presented.

Jenn has been an advocate for breast cancer research since her 2005 diagnoses. Her website is an informational tool she has dedicated to such charitable foundations that you can find at jennlyon.com.

Jenn Lyon is a true “Survivor” contestant and star, and on the season finale of Survivor Heroes VS Villains a tribute was paid to her. May she rest in peace.
