The American Idol judge Simon Cowell has confirmed that he is, indeed, leaving at the end of the season. So now what?

I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, let’s just allow America to decide. CNN reports that Cowell wants to leave the hit reality tv talent show because it will enable him to leave this year “bigger and better than it was in the past.”

Well said. Simon has set his sights on bringing the United States version of “The X Factor” to America and it is said that the show will launch come 2011. He will reportedly continue to work with FOX and is elated in doing so. Cowell says, “I’m thrilled that we have put a date on the launch of the U.S. version of ‘The X Factor’ and delighted to be continuing to work with FOX,” adding “We have a fantastic relationship, a great team and are all very excited about this.” Well I hope it brings just as much as a phenomenon as American Idol!

Furthermore, Cowell says that he believes that he can find a shining star amongst the thousands of people in America who are longing to be discovered, and he assures that he will find the talented soul.

As for the future of American Idol? He says, “In my opinion, I think it’s like having a good player in a good football team … when the player retires from the team it will continue to be successful. ‘Idol’ is not my show, but it’s very close to me. I genuinely believe this show can last for 10 or 20 years. I’m confident it will continue to be the No. 1, and everyone’s committed to keeping it that way.” I don’t know, how about you be the judge!

So there you have it. Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol and you can leave us your thoughts in the comment box. See photos and a film right here.
