Lady Gaga’s Polaroid Partnership

Lady Gaga’s Polaroid partnership is the latest sign that the songstress isn’t falling off anytime soon. Read about it here, and see photos and video.

This week it was announced that the ‘Love Game’ singer signed on with Polaroid for a major, multi-year deal that would make her the creative director of a new line of products. Sounds like a nice gig for Gaga, whose magnetic personality and unique sense of style could be just the boost the company needs.

The company was once a household staple that allowed people instant access to their photos. Naturally the advent of the Internet and digital cameras has caused them to take a major hit over the last several years. They even fell into bankruptcy in mid-2009 before being bought out by an investment group. They’re hoping the biggest pop star of the moment can inject some much-needed life back into the company.

So what will Lady Gaga’s Polaroid gig entail? Chief Executive Stephen Miller has this to say:

“The core of [the brand] is that it’s real, it’s unedited, and it captures the moment. We are changing our business model and launching into the global marketplace.”

Her involvement with the brand will officially be announced in Vegas on Thursday at the Consumer Electronics Show. Prior to that, she had already expressed enthusiasm in the project with the following statement:

“The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion / technology / photography innovation — blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era – and we are excited to collaborate on these ventures with the Polaroid brand.”

Her eccentricities may be the perfect fit for a company that is looking to make a comeback. I think they’re onto something. What about you?
