Five years ago Dick Clark suffered a stroke, yet he is still determined to help host his 37th celebration from Times Square, along with Ryan Seacrest. Tonight ABC will air their annual 3 1/2-hour live event which will include performances by Daughtry, who will perform four songs live, and Jennifer Lopez, who will preform from Times Square just before the ball drops – Post Chronicle.
“In addition, the shows will feature performances from Las Vegas’ new venue, Aria at City Center, including the Black Eyed Peas, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Keri Hilson, Colbie Caillat, Orianthi and Robin Thicke.”

The Jonas Brothers repeatedly have said they are not breaking up. It’s only the media that doesn’t seem to want to listen. And no he isn’t the next Justin Timberlake. Nick Jonas is much more talented the Justin.

As an “old ” rocker..having had a sucessfull band when Band Stand was was the afternoon rage…but opting for a career in advertising..I can’t believe Dick Clark would subject himself or his public to seeing him in the state his health has placed him…ONLY FOR THE MONEY.
It was sad to see him sink to this…Sorry, but it is not a tribute to see him like this…only my opinion! Dick…God Bless…but move on..with dignity, please.!?

First of all Dick Clark is a Legend, and if you don’t like it change the channel!
And it’s not about the money the man is rich.. he is doing it because he enjoys it, and he knows people look forward to turning in every year and looking for Mr Rock & Roll to Ring in the New Year!
Have some Respect and keep your disrespectful comments to yourself, I hope you have a Stroke so I can say the same thing about you!

Wow Loki, what a way to start the new year!
I do not read anything disrespectful in Pip’s comments – only the sad truth about an embarrassing situation, for the viewers as well as Mr. Clark.
I agree with Pip, it was very sad to see Dick Clark in this condition. His speech was slurred and at times unintelligible. Not the way I want to remember this Icon. And yes, I was distraught enough that I did change the channel.

Where is the SPCA when you need them? Dick Clark made a fool of himself and saddened thousands of us. Expect to see him trying to get a job with LaBare’s working the nursing home circuit next.

Actually Katie, it WAS disrespectful. Pip seems to be assuming that Dick Clark “subjected us” to his poor health just for the money. Whether or not he did that was moot. A. I think he did a great job. B. It wouldn’t be Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve without him. Also, my mom had a stroke in her later years, and we didn’t “change the channel” on her just because it was depressing to see the effects it had on her. Disrespectful is turning your back on somebody because of a disability. We have lost so many of our icons, Johnny, Ed, Milton, George Burns… It was comforting to see Dick at the helm. I hope he continues to do it for many more more years. And by the way Pip, I was a rocker too. Does that make me an expert?

The ratings proved it…there were more than a few people that changed the channel from Dick Clark to Carson Daly…his ratings were up from last year and Dick Clark’s were down. The truth is sad sometimes but it has to be addressed and no one seems to have the gutts to say to Dick….it’s time to move on. Of course you don’t turn your back on a loved on…but would you put them on National TV! His profession “was” broadcasting but he can’t do that any longer as we all could see. Come out…make an appearence and then go back in the production booth. Insisting on being a large part of the broadcast is hurting the show because in truth…it’s sad to see Dick the way he is now…and that is what people are reacting to and changing their channels.
