Charlene Lugar was arrested for drunk driving. Worse she was involved in a hit and run accident in which she injured another automobile and fled the scene, according to police reports.

But like anyone her life cannot be defined by one fleeting moment. As a biography, Charlene Lugar was born in depression ravaged 1932 which makes her 77 years old. That was a time when women learned to get by on their wits.
She goes by the nickname “Char” Lugar, which is far better than using her terrible middle name, Charlene Smeltzer Lugar. She married her famous husband 53 years ago in 1953! The couple have been around long enough to raise four children and 12 beautiful grandchildren.

Her husband happens to be the longest serving Republican Senator currently serving in the U.S. Congress. That would lead any good woman to the bottle.
She was pulled over in McLean, Virginia after her car was reportedly trailing a cloud of smoke and had a giant sized dent. She was arrested shortly after for drunk driving and accelerating global warming.

This woman is an alcoholic and needs rehab. She’s probably been a “closet Alcoholic” for years and years and has finally lost control of her drinking. I pray her family gets her treatment before she kills herself and/or others with her driving. Unfortunately, many women are suffering from this deadly disease.

you mention her good works and being a senators wife and attempt at the global warming contributions as though her behaviour should be minimized and her alcoholism should be blamed on depression era problems ect ect .. punish her like the sytem does the commoner ! she has probably been drinking for decades and it finally caught up with her . the law shouldnt place emphasis on title or stature .she broke it , now let her pay the price .

Maybe whoever wrote this story should take some basic Math lessons. Married in 1953 and have been married for 53 years? I must be in a time warp. I thought this year was 2009 but I guess I’m in 2006.
