Tony Echevarria is the photographer who was allegedly slugged by Mike Tyson. Both men ended up in cuffs after the melee. Get the story, along with photos and video here.
It all went down Wednesday at LAX…I guess I should say Echevarria went down…for the count that is. It looks like good ‘ole Mikey really got a hold of him.
Photos of the pap were posted online, and it looks like he was mauled by an angry mountain lion. In fact, the hospital photos TMZ posted make him look a bit like Marley from A Christmas Carol.
Tyson claims the move was done purely out of self-defense, and that the pap was getting a little too close to his family—that’s when he allegedly struck him four times in the head. The blow left a nasty gash in his forehead, which required 5 stitches. Tyson’s lawyer claims that the man was harassing him, and may have even followed him into the restroom.
I can’t get over the fact that he was wearing a shirt that said “live long” during the melee. Tussling with Mike Tyson is not an ideal way to live long if you know what I mean.
Today’s lesson: get a long lens and shoot from a distance.
Although the incident may seem minor, it could spell real trouble for the former heavyweight champ. That’s because he is already on probation for a drug and alcohol related arrest in Arizona. There is now speculation that this week’s incident could lead to a violation of the terms of his probation. If that happens, he may end up back in prison.
