Mongolians are turning to home remedies due to the lack in vaccines. It is said that because of this, horse meat in the country are rising, like that of the H1N1 and its cases. It is believed that eating horse meat may block the disease.
According to the Post Chronicle, since the start of H1N1 virus, there has been 630 cases reported in two weeks and seven deaths. This has caused their government to close kindergartens, secondary schools, and sporting and cultural events.
A spokesperson from Beijing spoke on behalf of the World Health Organization said, “We are not surprised that in the Northern Hemisphere we’re seeing an increase in cases, including fatal and serious cases. We’re not surprised, but we are concerned.”
It is said that, “One of our biggest concerns is the developing world, because they are not as equipped to deal with the deteriorating situation.”
According to reports, Mongolia has not yet received the H1N1 vaccine, so they have taken precautionary measure postponing non-emergency operations to allow enough beds for those infected with the virus. Mongolia was scheduled to receive the vaccination in November, however, they are said to now expect them in December.
