Hopper Penn, son of actor Sean Penn, was reportedly arrested sometime last week. Sources claim it occurred at his high school. Get the details here, along with some photos and video.

Sean Penn

A source in the know told RadarOnline that the 16-year-old was arrested and taken in by the LA County Sherriff’s Department last week. His status as a minor has thus far prevented any specifics from being released, so it remains unclear whether or not he has actually been charged.

There was confirmation from authorities that a teen was arrested at Hopper’s school in Malibu, but they wouldn’t confirm whether or not it was actually him.

If the speculation is true, and Hopper was actually arrested, I’d put money on it being for drugs. His parents are going through yet another round of relationship troubles. His mother Robin has just filed for divorce (and she’s serious this time).

We all know the pattern. Kids in troubled households often turn to drugs. And let’s face it; celeb kids have been known to dabble. Michael Douglas’ son just went through a legal whirlwind for a number of drug related charges.

I suppose there are plenty of other things that can earn a 16-year-old a ride in the back of a police car. A prank gone too far? Fighting? Heck, these days even accidentally bringing your Boy Scout knife to school can trigger the good ‘ole “zero tolerance” policy.

As soon any details about Hopper Penn’s alleged arrest are released I’ll be sure to update the story… so don’t forget to check back!

UPDATE: It turns out our suspicions were correct. Hopper was in fact arrested for possession of narcotics. Let’s hope he learns his lesson and keeps his nose clean from now on (sorry, I couldn’t help myself).
