When Miley Cyrus takes the stage without her blond wig and her alter ego Hannah Montana, I’m not so sure that was a good idea. Ok, ok, I’m just being honest here. It’s not all bad!

Although Miley may be sixteen and going through some tough identity crisis, we can forgive her and keep an open mind as she takes the stage of the Minneapolis Target Center as herself. It was a sold out show with a primarily tween crowd accompanied by their mothers who screamed with delight upon Miley’s arrival on the stage. Glow sticks and flashing lights engulfed the stadium.

The concert was filled with various set changes, which at first seemed pretty cool given the variety. However, it is evident Cyrus is not sure what she wants to be. A rocker? A pop tart? A country crooner? A hip hopper? Cyrus tried it all in one concert. As far as the music, Cyrus performed all her big songs including “Breakout”, “Start All Over”, “7 Things”, “Kicking and Screaming”, “Bottom of the Ocean” and “Fly On the Wall”.

While the youngsters in the audience seemed to be entertained by Miley, it was certain there were some interesting looks on the faces of some mothers in the audience. Was it the numerous ensembles that included hot pants short enough to not quite cover her entire behind? Was it the constant whipping of the hair that had people wondering if a wig was going to fly into the audience unexpectedly? Was it the grown-up dance moves that made you second guess if you were actually at a concert?

Granted, the concert wasn’t horrible by any means. It was entertaining and big props to Cyrus for not getting winded and for actually singing live. However at times I almost wished she did mouth the words. Her voice consisted of a distinct shout that even was present during her acoustic ballad “These Four Walls”.

The set list for the Minneapolis tour included:

Breakout
Start All Over
7 Things
Kicking and Screaming
Bottom of the Ocean
Fly On the Wall
Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ tribute
Let’s Get Crazy
Hoedown Throwdown
These Four Walls
When I Look at You
Obsessed
G.N.O
I Love Rock N’ Roll (cover)
Party in the USA
Wake Up America
Simple Song
See You Again
The Climb

The concert overall was satisfactory. It was high energy and there was a lot to take in visually. Whether I will check her out again in concert remains to be seen.
