Dr. Drew Pinsky is my favorite when it comes to doctors. Heck with Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew is my doctor of choice when it comes to reality television doctors. When Celebrity Rehab came to television, ironically I became addicted. With a new season of the show, this time we get a show called Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. The cast includes some interesting names including Phil Varone, Kari Ann Peniche, Duncan Roy, Amber Smith, Kendra Jade Rossi, James Lovett and a few others. Read more here.
First there were the heartbreaking stories of drug and alcohol addiction and how D-list celebrities get themselves so far into the addiction that they can’t dig themselves out. Instead of taking on celebrity drug/alcohol addicts, Dr. Drew takes on sex addicts in his new show Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. Most of the celebrities that are featured in the show have worked in the industry as a sex worker. Kendra Jade Rossi and Penny Flame were adult performers; Amber Smith took her clothes off for Playboy and Karin Ann Peniche was in a sex tape. McSteamy anyone?
The male celebrities in the show are not any different. Whether it be masturbating until pained or trading drugs and alcohol for sex, everyone’s story is different yet painfully similar.
While one may find it hard to believe that sex addiction is real, think again. And often times it begins with a childhood that involved molestation, rape or other tragic situations that started long before they knew what sex was.
Cast members include:
1. Phil Varone, who is a drummer from Skid Row.
2. Kari Ann Peniche, a fallen beauty queen who ended up posing for Playboy. Her past involved sexual abuse and a broken engagement to Aaron Carter.
3. Duncan Roy who is a British filmmaker.
4. Amber Smith whose name may sound very familiar as she participated in “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House”. Smith is an actress and pill-popper.
5. Kendra Jade Rossi is an ex-porn star who supposedly broke up Kevin Federline and Britney Spears. She is currently married to Rockstar Supernova winner Lukas Rossi.
6. James Lovett is an extreme sports dude.
7. Penny Flame, aka Jennifer Ketchum is a porn star.
8. Nicole Narian is a Playboy playmate, model and video girl who co-starred in the Colin Farrell sex tape.
The season premiere of Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew was last night November 1st, 2009 on VH1.
