Peter Kowalczyk is Leona Lewis’ attacker, it has been revealed. It has also come to light that he is an X-Factor reject and has a history of mental health issues.
29 year old Peter Kowalczyk has been identified as the fan who waited in line at Leona Lewis’ book signing this week, only to arrive at her table 90 minutes later, to punch her in the face.
Of course, he was quickly thrown to the ground and arrested, but he was said to be laughing after the incident. Leona’s boyfriend, Lou Al-Chamaa who was also at the signing, was very upset and had to be held back by police.
Today it was revealed that Peter, 29, was a former X Factor contestant who failed to make it past the first round. He was jealous of Leona’s success and that is what is believed to have sparked the incident. He reportedly has a history of mental health issues, and is currently being held in a psychiatric unit under the mental health act.
Leona canceled a promotional tour in Germany this week, and released the following statement about the incident.
‘Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset,’ said the 24-year-old. ‘I’m very sorry to those I wasn’t able to meet at the signing. Thank you again for all of the lovely messages. Love you all.’
Peter Kowalczyk, Leona Lewis’ attacker, is now being charged with assault.
