Teen pop star Miley Cyrus’ Twitter days are over. The Hannah Montana star is no longer a twitizen after she deleted her account to please her boyfriend.
One of the most fervently followed people on Twitter is hanging it up. Cyrus, who sends an ungodly number of tweets everyday, let her flock of followers know about her move with this message:
“FYI Liam doesn’t have a twttr & he wants ME 2 delete mine w/ gd reason”
But her fans are not going to let her go quietly. There was reportedly an epic fallout on the site following her decision. MTV reports that tweets such as “”TWITTER SUCKS WITHOUT MILEY :(” and “please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please #mileycomeback” were popping up at a ridiculous rate. Even her father appears to be pressuring her to reopen her account.
So exactly what did she tweet about that was so fascinating? Some of her recent messages have been about her support of gay marriage, hanging out with Speidi, rainbows, and John Lennon, to name a few.
I think when the site is used for the right reasons it can be neat, but it gets kind of old when celebs feel the need to tweet about every monotonous detail of their lives. So could Miley’s exodus from the site be the sign of a celeb rebellion against tweeting? Not likely, but there are some who already don’t like it.
I think Kid Rock put it best, when he said:
“If one more person asks me if I have a Twitter, I’m going to tell them, ‘Twitter this [bleep], mother[bleep]er,’ I don’t have anything to say, and what I have to say is not that relevant. Anything that is relevant, I’m going to bottle it up and then squeeze it onto a record somewhere.”
Other celebs who don’t feel the need to tweet their every move include Kanye West, Drew Barrymore, and Jennifer Aniston, whose distaste for the site reportedly began when she started having relationship troubles with John Mayer over his obsession with it.

I was following her, and while I am annoyed I don’t get as much insight into Miley’s world, it was the right choice. Because magazines and blogs wouldn’t shut up about everything she tweeted. Seriously, she just wanted to keep the fans in the loop, why did you guys have to ruin it for her by making fun of her so much? You LITERALLY ruined it for the fans.
