Happy couple Crystal Newsome and Robert Vickrey took the plunge in the Garden Department of a Walmart Supercenter—but this love wasn’t made in China.
The romance was born on the terrazzo floors under the neon lights between two managers at a Walmart in Nebraska. Crystal from the Deli had her eyes set on Robert from the Grocery department. What started as a mere friendship has become true love, and now they’re both happier than Walmart’s big yellow smiley face.
Their logic is sound: they met and fell in love at the discount retailer—so why not exchange vows there? The couple even had their first kiss at the store. I think the move makes plenty of practical sense. Think about it, they don’t need to hire a videographer because the security cameras will capture the entire ceremony! They even saved money on invitations. Rather than purchase them and mail them out, they simply posted a notice by the time clock, pure genius!
Also, any guests who took photographs of the ceremony could just walk on over to the photo lab and have them developed, or have their digital pictures printed. Rather than have a gift registry, guests could kill two birds with one stone and shop at the Walmart for their wedding gift.
I think this couple is on to something. You can do practically anything at a Walmart: get your hair done, pedicure, manicure, banking, play video games, eat at McDonalds, see an optometrist, get minor car repairs—did I miss anything? They need to take a cue from these people, and add a wedding chapel!
Congratulations to the happy couple!
