Simon Cowell did an interview with the Early Show where he finally talked about Paula not being there, and admitted he is going to miss her. Amanda Holden, a contributor for the Early Show and judge on Britain’s Got Talent was the lucky lady to get these secrets out of Cowell. He told her,

“I hate saying this, but Paula’s a star. When she came on the show, she was a star, is a star, will always be a star. And then you’ve got to remember that, with all the people (lining) up, they want to be a star on ‘American Idol.’ You’ve got to sort of try to concentrate on them and not think about yourself, which is difficult.”

Well, at least he is ending things on a positive note. I mean Paula had her wacky ways, but she was a sweetheart who always encouraged the contestants, while people were looking for all of their flaws. Hopefully Ellen DeGeneres, who just announced that she will be taking Paula’s place on American Idol will be able to fill that void.

I was pretty upset about Paula leaving, but the decision is made. Now I am excited to see what Ellen can do. She has such a fun, energetic personality, and I think she can really freshen the show up. Which is what it seems like American Idol is trying to do. They lose Paula, gain Ellen, and they are also trying out several guest judges of which include, Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Kristin Chenoweth, Joe Jonas, Victoria Beckham, and Avril Lavigne. What do you think about these changes? Did Idol need a revamp, or is this just too much?

Check out a video of the interview here, where Simon also dishes on Susan Boyle’s new album.
