Ted Kennedy was a lifelong public servant, having become one of the most influential lawmakers of all time. One part of Senator Kennedy’s proud legacy people are curious about now is not a piece of legislation, but his children.

He had five of them, Kara (above center), Curran, Caroline, Ted Jr., and Patrick, all of which read or spoke at his funeral. Since his passing, the web has been buzzing with searches for Ted Kennedy Jr., and Kara Kennedy Allen. While there is not a great deal of information available about Kara Kennedy, here’s what we’ve got:

Kara Kennedy Allen Biography

Kara Kennedy was born Kara Ann Kennedy in February of 1960 in Rockville, Maryland. She is Senator Ted Kennedy’s only daughter. Kara appears to have inherited her father’s fighting spirit, as she herself struggled with cancer, but recovered after successful treatment.

She married Michael Allen in September of 1990 in Centerville, Massachusetts. They have two children together, Max Greathouse Allen, 13, and Grace Kennedy Allen, 15.

Kara Kennedy occupies herself as a television news producer, but spends a great deal of time doing charity work. She has been reported to work for Very Special Arts, which is an art organization related to the Special Olympics. She is also a board member for the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Our condolences go out to the family of Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy. May he rest in peace.
