Mayim Bialik, the former TV star of Blossom, has earned her PhD in Neuroscience, and has some interesting childrearing techniques, such as attachment parenting. Read about her now, and see photos and video here.
She has gone from Blossom, the girl known for her eccentric style and bizarre hats, to Dr. Bialik, a woman with a doctorate from UCLA. And what’s more, she’s using her medical knowledge, and some alternative parenting to bring a new perspective to mothers.
“…a practice in which a caregiver uses timing, signals, cues, and intuition to address an infant’s need to eliminate waste.”
Dr. Mayin Bialik claims to have done the research, and is certain that this can be achieved. She is also a huge supporter of home birth, and attachment parenting—she continues to share a bed with both of her sons and her husband. She even breast-fed her oldest son until he was 2-years-old, and plans to home school both of her children.
In an interview with ET, she spoke about how she avoided the problems that many child-stars end up with, such as alcohol and drug abuse, saying:
“…My parents were very down-to-earth and I think it was important to them that I still be a normal person and have chores, responsibilities, curfew and all that stuff. I came from an immigrant background, so I think it is part of how I was raised no matter what. My grandparents got on boats from Eastern Europe so we could have a better life and going to college was it — no matter what.”
The former TV star also appeared on TLC’s what not to wear earlier this year, and received a complete transformation.
It’s good to see a child star come out alright as an adult, isn’t it? What do you think about her parenting methods—would you try them with your own children? Give us your thoughts in the comments section below.
