Hal Linton: Barbados R&B Soul Singer-Songwriter, a BET Rising Icon

Meet Hal Linton, Barbados R&B soul singer-songwriter and producer. See photos, video and a biography of the emerging Barbadian and Caribbean music star who was named a BET Rising Icon and who is about to release his debut album Return From The Future.

Hal Linton (picture above) is in the news as BET (Black Entertainment Television) recently honored him as part of a new series, Rising Icons on the network which as the title implies showcases up and coming music artists. His musical style, which is classic soul and contemporary R&B draws comparison to established music artists in the genre, including John Legend, Maxwell, Musiq Soulchild, Robin Thicke, and Anthony Hamilton.

Hal Linton Return From The Future album, his debut, is set for release in fall 2009. The lead single is She’s Dangerous (Bang Bang).




As a biography, Hal Linton was born on December 25, 1983 in Barbados, so his age is 25 years old.

He released a self-produced independent album “Spirit:Life:Love” in 2006. The Hal Linton Cardiac Arrest, lead single of the album, proved to be a breakout single and propelled him to notoriety in Barbados and throughout the Caribbean region. He gained further notoriety in 2007 at Barbados Music Awards when he home four awards including Best New Artist.

Hal Linton toured extensively throughout the U.S. as a supporting act for The Roots, India Arie and others in 2007. The following year, By 2008 he had three recording deal offers and it was Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone who signed him in July of that year, making him the latest of several Barbadian music artists who have received international exposure, notably Rihanna, Livvi Franc, Rupee, and Shontelle. The highly anticipated Hal Linton Return From The Future album, his debut album on the label, is forthcoming.
