In sad news today, David Carradine was found dead in his Thailand hotel where he was filming his next movie, Stretch. According to reports, the 72 year old was found hung in a closet by a maid. The circumstances of his death are still unclear, but suicide is suspected. This story touches my heart, because when I was young it was a tradition for my family to get some snacks, and watch Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. I would walk around telling people, “I am Caine, I will help you.” I am deeply saddened by this news today. I am sure the brothers he has left behind, Bruce Carradine, Robert Carradine, and Keith Carradine are devastated.

Keith Carradine looks so much like David it is unreal. I almost didn’t believe it when I looked up pictures. Here is a bit of information on Keith, who is also an actor.

Keith Ian Carradine was born in San Mateo, California on August 8, 1949, making his age 59. He was born into a family of actors, and is an American Academy Award-winning actor and songwriter himself. His parents are artist and actress Sonia Sorel and actor John Carradine.

Keith has several brothers and it breaks down like this: his paternal half-brothers are David Carradine and Bruce Carradine, his maternal half-brother is Michael Bowen, and his full brothers are Christopher Carradine and Robert Carradine.

The Carradine brothers David, Robert and Keith all worked together playing brothers in The Long Riders in the early 80’s. In 1972 David and Keith worked together on Kung Fu, where Keith portrayed the character Kwai Chang Caine and adult Caine was portrayed by his half brother, David.

However, Keith Carradine’s first prominent film appearance was in the 1971 film, McCabe & Mrs. Miller. He then went on to star in Nashville, where his song “I’m Easy,” was featured in the film and also a hit, and Carradine won an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Keith Carradine’s other film roles include; The Duellists, Choose Me, Trouble in Mind, Paris in The Moderns, The Tie That Binds, Emperor of the North Pole, Pretty Baby, Chiefs, and My Father My Son.

In 1984, Keith appeared in the music video for Madonna’s single Material Girl. Carradine also did Broadway, and in the early 1990s he played the lead role in the Tony Award winning musical, the “Will Rogers Follies,” and was nominated for Broadway’s 1991 Tony Award as Best Actor in a Musical for his role. His credits go on and on, as he is a talented and respected actor.

Keith Carradine has three children: Martha Plimpton, Cade Richmond Carradine, and Sorel Johannah Carradine. He is currently married to Hayley DuMond, his co-star in the Burt Reynolds film The Hunter’s Moon.

On June 4, 2009, Thai police reported the death of Keith’s brother, David, who was found dead in his Bangkok hotel room of an apparent hanging.
