Tovah Cottle is making her way back into the world of fashion after spending two years in prison. She started off as an international model, but fell into a drug addiction, which led to her trafficking and supplying heroin. She was sent to prison for two years, but it must have been the kick in the butt she needed to make her realize her dream of a career in fashion.

Tovah Cottle is a 31-year-old former international model. She began her modeling career at 14, and by 16 she was addicted to heroin. Her addiction didn’t stop her modeling career, and by the age of 17 she was known as an international model gracing catwalks from Italy to New York.

He drug use led to many mistakes including a conviction of drug and armed robbery offenses in her early 20s. She spent 27 months in jail, but it changed her life for the better.

“It was all timing. I was really keen to stop. It was just going to jail at the right time. Jail wasn’t a negative experience for me at all.’’

In jail she was mentored by a prison chaplain, who was also a former TAFE fashion teacher. This reignited her passion for the fashion industry and encouraged her to enroll in a fashion course.

Now Tovah is in her second year of an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design at Metro South Institute of TAFE, and is already seeing success from her hard work.

This weekend, two of her outfits will premiere at Fashions on the Field in the Young Designer Category at Doomben’s BTC Cup Day.

Cottle plans to finish school and then work in the industry before starting her own high fashion label. And she has plenty support on the home front. Her son Cameron, 9, and partner Warren Jopson who support her new life.

What an inspirational story!!
