UPDATE: Shaheen Jafargholi (picture above) is among those who performed at the Michael Jackson memorial service on July 7, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. See the video below.

According to Robert Phillips, headmaster of the Dylan Thomas Community School in Swansea, where Shaheen Jafargholi is a student, the late King of Pop had seen the 12-year-old’s performance of Who’s Loving You on YouTube and was impressed and had considered inviting him to perform at the London O2 concert series This Is It which would have kicked off on July 13, 2009.

“Shaheen was asked specifically by Michael Jackson’s closest family to sing at the service because they knew how impressed Michael had been with him. I got a call from Shaheen’s agent asking for him to be released from school and then we were told why.”

Reportedly, Michael Jackson had told his family he was “knocked out” by the youngster’s performance.

‘There are some acts that you haven’t seen yet, it’s not quite the one horse race you are going to think this is.’

At the Cardiff, Wales audition for the ITV1 Britain’s Got Talent, the audience and judges and now the world, through YouTube, has just seen one of those acts, Shaheen Jafargholi Britain’s Got Talent.

The 12-year-old Shaheen Jafargholi began singing the Amy Winehouse song, Valerie, with the audience cheering the robust delivery and the vocal maturity of the young singer.

Simon Cowell waved his hand, stopping him. ‘You’ve got this really wrong,’ he said He then asked, what else he could sing.

Shaheen Jafargholi said, ‘Who’s Loving You,’ by Michael Jackson.

He showed tremendous resolve and courage to deliver such a powerful performance, after the abrupt interruption of his chosen audition song. It is notable that the song is more suited for showcasing his vocal range and abilities.

The audience did not wait till the song ended; they were on their feet and cheering throughout the amazing performance, with all three judges joining the standing ovation at the end.

Simon Cowell said, ‘This is how one song can change your life, and this may be the start of something special for you, young man.

‘Luckily, I managed to hold it together and control my nerves. I just told myself that I had to do it, that it was now or never and that there was no room for mistakes. Simon had given me a second chance but I knew there wouldn’t be a third.”

Britain’s Got Talent auditions continue, and ultimately, the winner will receive prize money of £100,000 and perform for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Im not sure he is too young. That is up to the parents individually. His school, stage school, and previous stage accomplishments might make it the perfect time to go public with what should be an outstanding career. My only advise is not to allow your passion Shasheen to be over run by others greed. Enjoy your gift, accept reward, and be yourself.
    God Bless you.
