Regarding the comparison, Rochelle Wiseman, Saturdays singer, acknowledged the group as an inspiration as they embark upon their first ever headlining tour in June 2009.
“Obviously Girls Aloud were inspiring to watch. When we saw them perform, headlining their own tour, we were all, ‘Wow, this is exactly where we want to be.’ “
The Saturdays’ aforementioned breakthrough hit ‘If This Is Love’ reached No. 8 on UK charts and brought the group much fame and popularity. ‘Up’ and ‘Issues’ were also top 10 hit singles.
The girl group was chosen to record the 2009 Comic Relief single, “Just Can’t Get Enough” a cover of the 1980s Depeche Mode signature song, and it peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and is included in the re-release of their debut album. Regarding the success of the single, Rochelle Wiseman said:
“We are trying to do stuff for charity and we wanted to reach the best that we can but there’s always next week…And we’re number two so that’s amazing.”
Despite the meteoric rise to fame, Rochelle Wiseman cherishes her private life, in contrast to some of her fellow group members who have had high profile romances. In an interview she says she has a boyfriend, ‘but mine isn’t famous so I don’t think it’s fair to name him.’ She prefers to spend time with him, saying ‘I absolutely hate going out. It’s boring.’
