Champion bull rider and rodeo star Ty Murray and professional dancer Chelsie Hightower were sent home last week; their total scores were 48 of a possible 60.
The season’s frontrunner, Gilles Marini became the first contestant this season to achieve a perfect score as he and dance partner Cheryl Burke continue to impress. Last week they earned two perfect scores of 30, putting them in the lead with a score of 60 out of 60!
Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson came second with 56 points out of 60. Melissa Rycroft (The Bachelor) earned 55 points and came in third.
Previously, Grammy Award winning rapper Lil’ Kim and professional partner Derek Hough were eliminated in what was easily the most shocking elimination of the season. Despite several strong dance performances, they were narrowly defeated by the audience votes which favored the rodeo champion Ty Murray and his professional dance partner Chelsie Hightower.
The departure of Ty Murray and Lil’ Kim in consecutive weeks follows that of country music singer Chuck Wicks, NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, (known as LT), comedians Steve-O and David Alan Grier, Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak (The Woz), and former Playboy model and Girls Next Door star Holly Madison. Other contestants sent home: Belinda Carlisle, former Go-Go frontwoman and actress Denise Richards.
