Kanye West: Welcome to Heartbreak (Video)

Kanye West has released his latest video, “Welcome to Heartbreak”. The track features rapper Kid Cudi and tells the tale of how Kanye’s quest for success in music has left him without a wife or a family.

The video features a cubist-like representation of Kanye singing about what his heartbreak really is. The video has an 1980’s feel (possibly due to Kanye’s sweater), but it is something that could never have been done in that decade. The scenes fade from one to another in a way that’s unlike any you’ve seen. Kid Cudi appears out of a wooden fence and then fades into Kanye dancing in front of the “this has been a test of the American Broadcast System” screen. Trust me, you just have to see it.

Kanye recently appeared on the cover of Vibe Magazine next to the title “I Am Rap”. In the issue, he discusses the release of his new album, 808s & Heartbreak, and how he’s dealt with the passing of his mother. When asked if he’s considered therapy to help with the grieving process, he responded,

“I don’t believe in therapy. I believe you gotta walk it out, you gotta live it out…And sometimes you have to cry it out…I don’t believe in medication or painkillers. And I don’t believe in religion and giving it all up to Jesus.?

Following up Vibe is an appearance on Details Magazine for the March 2009 issue. Some highlights: sexual addiction helped his success and a sexually enhanced Mario Brothers game he invented. You’re going to want to pick up this issue.

Kanye West Video – Welcome to Heartbreak

Kanye West – “Welcome To Heartbreak”

My friend showed me pictures of his kids
And all I could show him was pictures of my cribs
He said his daughter got a brand new report card
And all I got was a brand new sports car, oh

And my head keeps spinning
Can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it
And my head keeps spinning
I can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it

Dad cracked a joke, all the kids laughed
But I couldn’t hear him all the way in first class
Chased the good life my whole life long
Look back on my life and my life gone
Where did I go wrong?

And my head keeps spinning
Can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it
And my head keeps spinning
I can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it

I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it before
I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it before
I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it before
I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it before

Oh my God, sister getting married by the lake
But I couldn’t figure out who I’d wanna take
Bad enough that I showed up late
I had to leave before they even cut the cake
Welcome to heartbreak

And my head keeps spinning
Can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it
And my head keeps spinning
I can’t stop having these visions, I gotta get with it

And I and I can’t stop
No, no, I can’t stop
No, no, no, no, I can’t stop
No, no, no, no, I can’t stop

Can’t stop, I can’t stop, I can’t stop
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, I can’t stop

I can’t stop having these visions
I gotta get with it
