Sir Peter Lampl is a leading educational philanthropist, and a chairman of the Sutton Trust charitable foundation. A self-made millionaire, Sir Peter puts at least £3m a year into projects that encourage higher education. He has worked in finance both in Europe and America, but has worked in Britain since 1996.

On Sunday afternoon Lampl was reported missing from his Wimbledon home. Police said he did not have his long-term medication with him, which is believed to be for depression, and his disappearance is said to be “entirely out of character.”

Sir Peter Lampl is a 61-year-old man, described as 5ft 8in tall with fair, grayish hair, and blue eyes. He became a self-made millionaire with a private equity firm the Sutton Company before founding the education charity Sutton Trust in 1997. He attended a grammar school in Reigate, Surrey, Oxford University and London Business School, and puts a lot of money towards higher education projects. He was given a knighthood in 2003.

He is married to Lady Karen Lampl, a trustee of the trust, and has three school-aged children, two girls and a boy. His family is said to be “very very concerned.? Police say Sir Peter was last seen Sunday at 8:30 wearing a blue sweater and blue casual trousers. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
