The video game F.E.A.R. 2 releases February 10, 2009 in the United States and February 13, 2009 in Europe. Fans have been waiting for its release since first teased with a demo at the 2007 E3 Expo; excitement has only grown after the extended demo release on January 21, 2009.

F.E.A.R. 2

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the sequel video game to F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon, a first person shooter horror game. The F.E.A.R. series follows the supernatural adventures of a powerful psychic named Alma. Alma has been crossed, and her anger has created a paranormal crisis; in the second installment players must navigate the destroyed city that was left behind in the original. F.E.A.R. 2 players take on the role of Michael Becket, a Delta Force pilot sent to arrest Genevieve Aristide prior to the explosion, but who must now also battle Alma’s supernatural forces to save the day.

Gamers were invited to New York to test out the new game before it hits shelves, and most were pleased. One reviewer says the “gunfights feel more interesting than those found in most first-person shooters” and the game includes some “visually pleasing exchanges of gunfire”. Although, the fear factor may not be there, with same player complaining that “F.E.A.R. 2 didn’t really deliver in the horror department,” but I wouldn’t expect to scream in a video game either. Overall, though, the player says, “I’d played a violent, well-paced, and generally enjoyable shooter that I wouldn’t mind actually playing to completion.”

F.E.A.R. 2 will be compatible with XBox360, Play Station 2 and PC systems.
