Michelle Obama’s inauguration dress is all the rage today, as the new first lady spiced things up with just a bit of color. Cuban – American fashion designer, Isabel Toledo, was the lucky fashionista who created this fabulous dress for the first lady. Isabel implemented Michelle Obama’s chic and youthful style into the classy, sophisticated dress.

As a biography Isabel Toledo was born on April 9, 1961 in Cuba. She is a well-known fashion designer based in New York. She moved to New Jersey at a young age, where she attended high school and met her husband, Ruben Toledo. Isabel attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. Her designs are known for an understanding of garment production and appreciation for the geometric details.

Isabel worked solely under her own name for 20 years, but back in 2006 she was named the creative director for Anna Klein. However, despite debuting with critical acclaim with Anne Klein at New York Fashion Week in February 2007, she was let go from her position a few months later.

First Lady, Michelle Obama, wore an Isabel Toledo design to the inauguration of her husband President Barack Obama. She first wore Toledo design at a New York City fashion world fund-raiser on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
