Super-salesman Billy Mays, can sell anything even on TV channels that hardly anyone watches. His trademark beard and yelling throughout his commercials makes him familiar, if not annoying, to everyone it seems. And yes, some of us do mute the commercial until he’s finished shilling.

Now, he’s pitching ESPN 360 in a series of very funny commercials. You can watch one after the jump.

Billy Mays Biography

William “Billy” D. Mays was born on July 20, 1958 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania so his age is 50. He is best known as the king of television commercials and infomercials. He is also known to do them in blue shirts, speaking quite loudly. He promotes OxiClean, Orange Glo, Mighty Mendit and other cleaning and home-maintenance products.

After graduating from high school, Billy began his career as a salesman on the Atlantic City boardwalk, selling the “Weed-Matic” portable gardening device to passersby. It is unclear if he began shouting then however, it was while working alongside many seasoned pitchmen, he developed his trademark style of salesmanship. Billy Mays later traveled to home shows, auto shows, and state fairs across the United States for a period of twelve years, selling various maintenance products and tools, including cleaning products and food choppers.

At a Pittsburgh home show in 1993, Billy became friends with rival salesman Max Appel, founder of Orange Glo International, a Denver-based manufacturer of cleaning products. He was then hired by the company to promote their line of cleaners, OxiClean, Orange Clean, and Orange Glo, on the Home Shopping Network in St. Petersburg, Florida. The rest, as they say, is history because a star was born.

Now, Billy Mays Mays is the CEO and founder of Mays Promotions, Inc. His services as a pitchman became highly sought-after, and he has appeared in commercials for many diverse “as seen on TV” products. Billy Mays claims to be an avid user of the products he promotes.

In December 2008, Billy Mays began appearing in ads for ESPN’s online service, ESPN360. These ads were a slight departure for Mays as they were designed to be parodies of his and other infomercial cliches with Mays appearing to be doing a parody of himself. If you have seen them, you know how funny they are.

Billy Mays is married to Candace and they live in Florida.
