Meet Elizabeth Wurtzel, author of “Prozac Nation” and recent Yale Law School graduate. See her biography, photos and video here.

It has been reported the Elizabeth Wurtzel, who sat for the July 2008 bar exam in New York, did not pass. The results were released yesterday, and her name does not appear on the list of the successful. However, it is also being reported that she has been hired by the big name law firm Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, though not yet as an attorney as she is yet unlicensed.

Elizabeth Wurtzel Biography

As a biography, Elizabeth Wurtzel was born on July 31, 1967 in New York City, so her age is 41. She graduated from Ramaz high school in New York and then attended Harvard University, where she wrote for The Harvard Crimson and won Rolling Stone Magazine’s College Journalism Award.

At age 26, Elizabeth’s book “Prozac Nation” was published, an autobiographical tale about her struggle with depression and her saving grace, Prozac. The book was later adapted to film, starring Christina Ricci. Prior to that, she wrote for The New Yorker and New York Magazine. Since “Prozac Nation”, she has had two more books published: “Bitch” and “More, Now, Again”, both on the bestsellers’ list.

But despite this success, Elizabeth still struggles like the rest of us. She explains,

“The big shock in life is, you get a new job, you’re still you. You go to college, you’re still you. That’s the big disappointment. Those big, transcendant moments that you’re waiting for, it doesn’t happen. I expected to feel so different, and I didn’t. It didn’t make me any less me.”

Now Elizabeth is a Yale Law School graduate with her sights set on practicing law. She enjoyed law school, but will have to wait at least until the February Bar Exam to begin her career as an attorney. But if her past is any indication, success is sure to follow, even if delayed. Still, she can expect criticisms as well. People who once thought her defeatist and narcissistic aren’t likely to change their minds quickly.
