Meet Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina Jolie’s mother. The exotic beauty has been missed terribly by her children since her untimely death in 2007. Read her biography, see photos and a video of Angelina talking about her in London yesterday.
Angelina Jolie dedicated her performance in her latest movie, The Changeling, to her mother. During a press conference about the film in London on Monday, November 17, 2008, Jolie got emotional as she paid tribute to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand.
Bertrand was an actress who married Jon Voight, in 1971 and is the mother of both of his children. She died of ovarian cancer in 2007 and her loss has continued to be hard on Angelina and her brother James Haven.
“Her name was Marcheline but we used to call her Marshmallow, as a joke, because she was just the softest, most gentle woman in the world,” she said.
“She was really sweet and was never angry – she couldn’t swear to save her life.
“But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this is very much her story.”
You can see from the photos below the striking resemblance between Jolie and her mother.
