Chiaki Kuriyama was born October 10th, 1984 in Tsuchiura, Japan. She is a Japanese actress and model. She was popular as a child model in the mid 1990′s in Japan. She appeared in the Shinwa-Shoujo (Girl of Myth) photobooks in 1997. It became a best-seller but was discontinued 2 years later as it contained some nudity and the new anti-child pornography laws were released. She also appeared in the child fashion magazines Nicola and Puchi Lemon.
She started her acting career in Japan with the horror film Shikoku (1999) and Ju-on (2000), other appearances include the film Battle Royale (2000), and the television program Rokubanme no Sayoko. Chiaki Kuriyama came to international fame in her Hollywood debut as Gogo Yubari, the dangerous schoolgirl in Kill Bill, Volume 1, directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Her name translates into “Chestnut mountain with full brightness”, in a interview she stated that she had once watched the movie “Seven” three times in one day. In her free time she does ballet and gymnastics. Her favorite movies include Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and Danny Boyle’s “Trainspotting”.
