The action movie “Max Payne“, directed by John Moore, debuted with $18 million at the box office. He left behind the family comedy “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” ($11.2 million), the chick flick “The Secret Life of Bees” ($11.1 million) and the film biography of George W. Bush ($10.6 million), according to Los Angeles-based box office tracking firm Media.
Max Payne managed to be the 6th-best opening for a video game movie franchise and the all-time Nr.9 opening for a video game adaptation. The sales rise the overall revenues in Hollywood for the fourth consecutive weekend by 10%. Last year the top 12 movies took in $86.4 million.
Mark Wahlberg stars as a DEA undercover New York cop to solve a series of murders in New York City. His family was slain as part of a conspiracy in the movie and assassin Mona Sax (Mila Kunis) out to avenge her sister’s death. In the film the duo will be hunted by the police, the mafia, and a ruthless corporation.

they showed every exciting or interesting part of this movie in the previews… the rest, unfortunately, was a snoozefest; didn’t make the video game look very good at all
