Please tell me you watched “Saturday Night Live” last night. That show had to be their highest rated show in years, with vice presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin appearing for a couple skits in which she looked comfortable poking fun at herself. The show began with another Tina Fey-as-Sarah Palin skit – very funny on it’s own, but made hilarious by the injection of Alec Baldwin and Gov. Palin herself.
But as great as the opening skit was, it was Weekend Update that stole the show. The SNL news show started as it always does, with a couple jokes about current events, but then the special guest came on the show. Gov. Sarah Palin showed up and told Seth Meyers that she didn’t think she could do the skit that had been written for her because of its impact on the campaign. So a very pregnant Amy Poehler did it instead. She immediately hopped up and started rapping … and it was hysterical.
Among the highlights of the rap were the shooting of a moose and husband Todd making an appearance in a snowmachine outfit. But it was the lyrics that really made the skit, which included:
- when discussing John McCain, “that smile be creepy”
- and of course, “when I see oil it’s drill baby drill-a”
And Gov. Palin danced along the entire time, even raising the roof. This video will make your whole day.
