Clay Aiken reveals that he is gay
American Idol alum Clay Aiken appears on the cover (along with his son Parker) of People Magazine, with the headline reading, “Yes, I’m gay”. You can see the cover here. What prompted him to finally come out? He told People:
“I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things.�
Aiken’s son, Parker Foster Aiken, was born on August 8, 2008 at 8:08 AM. He fathered the child with Jaymes Foster (through artificial insemination), whom he met while appearing on American Idol. Foster would later become Aiken’s producer.
You can currently see Aiken in Spamalot, where he has reprised his role as “Sir Robin” after having left the musical in May. He said on his website:
“Since leaving SPAMALOT in May, jokes have just not been funny. Food has lost its taste. The grass is no longer green - the sky no longer blue. And, babies WON’T stop crying!! I’m so excited about coming back to the funniest show in the world!”
