Model Lily Cole is receiving all kinds of backlash for her decision to pose nude in French Playboy. The model will be in a 14-page photo spread, as well as on the cover of Playboy.
However lily Cole’s decision to pose for Playboy isn’t sitting well with fans, claiming that the pictures will be degrading. Marks and Spencer has decided to stand behind their model, who is one of the faces of their company, despite protests including A Christian Voice spokesman who is urging customers to boycott the store.Stephen Green, 56, national director of Christian Voice, said:
“Playboy is not just indecent, it is obscene. Marks and Spencer had a moral judgment to make, and by standing by Lily Cole it is condoning an evil. It could of taken a responsible position but chose not to, indirectly supporting Playboy and all that it stands for.By deciding to do nothing, to not take any action, it is telling Britain and the world that Marks and Spencer does not care about the exploitation of women.?
A spokesman for M&S responded saying:
‘Lily Cole is a popular, high profile, model who is very much in demand, and this is one of the key reasons why we have chosen to work with her. It’s entirely her own choice as to what other work she accepts and we would not wish to interfere with her career.’
Lily was chosen by Marks and Spencer, along with Erin O’Connor, Twiggy, Myleene Klass, and Lizzy Jagger, to boost its campaign and appeal to customers.
Lily Cole Playboy is sure to boost sales, as the company is already gaining attention. Lily will be holding a teddy bear while nude, wearing nothing but white socks.
